Do you have a severely disabled student you don’t know what to do with?
Do you know how to write a transition-based IEP?
Do you know what the evidence-based practices are and have you incorporated them into your classroom?
Are you articulating the post-secondary goals and annual goals based on transition assessment?
By law, each student with disabilities is required to have a personalized transition assessment.
Unfortunately, due to budgetary and educational time constraints these assessments aren’t always completed. J Lynn Enterprises works with educators to ensure they are following the letter of the law so that they don’t have repercussions at a later date. Please see our transition services including training/consultation and e-coaching for education professionals, or contact us for more information.
Case Study 1
Challenge:
School district had a threatening lawsuit against them due to the lack and untimely manner they had prepared a transition assessment and set-up individualized transition services.
Process:
J.Lynn Enterprises was hired to complete an independent evaluation that answered the referral questions needed in order to keep the case from being filed for hearing.
Outcome:
The 100-page assessment provided adequate information to define the student’s postsecondary goals and that provided realistic and relevant transition services all parties agreed upon.
Case Study 2
Challenge:
Transition Coordinator and staff had failed to develop individual education program that complied with federal guidelines for transition.
Process:
J.Lynn Enterprises was hired as a consult for a six-month period to work with staff on a weekly basis—training on best practices, resourcing their department and coaching them on two difficult cases.
Outcome:
Presently, the school is now known throughout the area as providing the most comprehensive transition planning ever seen by school administrators.
