Case Study
Challenge:
Probate Court and presiding judge was faced with a complicated case involving two divorced parents who couldn’t agree on the types of services their son required. There was a guardian ad litum and attorney for the client involved. After two years of litigation, assessment, program design and development that case was closed.
Process:
J. Lynn was hired as the court’s program expert and was able to develop a comprehensive program including a job placement that met the court’s requirement. She recommended that the autistic young adult move from a status quo job of shredding that he’d been doing for 5 years in a placement that was 30 miles away from his home, required 15 transitions between domiciles, and was unpaid and illegal according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Outcome:
The client obtained a full-wage, part-time job 10 minutes from his home and the case was finally closed.

I am the Mother and Co-conservator of a 26 year old son with autism and intellectual disabilities. I met Judy Imperatore as she was appointed to my case by the Westport Probate Court.
I have known Judy now for 3 years. Her scope of knowledge, energy level and ability to actually get things done is amazing. Despite the numerous hurdles she faced in the case of my son, she was able to attain great results in transitioning him from a very disjointed combination of 2 day programs and a supported employment position in a school for the disabled population to one day program and a great job placement in the community. She had advice regarding health care and preparing him for a future residential program that was useful. Judy deftly managed communications between numerous team members including the parents, court appointees, the state and multiple service providers.
Anyone retaining her will be extremely well-served.
